Across The Universe

This was a great movie...if I was high! I guess I am not an artsy person because this show was just very out there for me. The music was great and most of the songs I knew so that was fun, but I felt like it was fanatasia for people that are drunk or on drugs. So maybe I would have enjoyed it more in that drunken state, but I am not going to find out so if you watch it like that let me know what you think!
I was expecting more of a Mulan Rouge kind of movie, which in some ways it was, but it was hard to figure out what was going on at first with them switching storylines so much, which weren't explained well at all. Seriously there was a funeral and I didn't even figure out who the funeral was for until later.
I do admit that some parts were creative. Like when Uncle Sam came out of the poster singing I want you. But then all of a sudden they were naked in the water, that is the parts that I will never get. Sorry!

27 Dresses

Once a bridesmaid, always a bridesmaid, at least it may take 27 times to try and catch the bokay.

27 dresses was good, but one of those predictible "chick flicks" that you see. Wasn't really wondering what was going to happen next if you know what I mean. Word of caution, don't go with your 80 year old grandma because every time theres a kiss you will hear very loudly, "Oh no not this again!" But if you are down on your luck and need one of those heart warming love stories then it would be a good one to watch. It did have it's funny parts.

Honestly to me, it was a good one to watch once, probably won't be catching us watching it again though.

Juno

Yes this movie is set in the present, don't let the shorts fool you...

Now going into this movie I was wondering how it was going to be. But once you leave you have many lines going through your head and if you are like me and my husband we are quoting it the rest of the day.
"Did you know Juno was pregnant?"
"Yeah."
"Did you know it was yours?"
"Yeah."
"You should grow a mustache."
"I can't."
"Me neither."
Ok so maybe you have to watch this movie to get some of these lines, but I really think this was written very clever and interesting. If I would have been a pregnant teenager I would hope that my parents would have reacted exactly the way that Juno's parents did, mad but deal with it and help her.
So if you want a different, witty movie I would recommend Juno for sure. Note it is PG-13 for a reason. Obviously she and her boyfriend have sex and there is talk or else it wouldn't be a pregnant teenager movie.
Not sure if I would sit my children down when they are in high school to have them watch this to show what teenage pregnancy is about though...

Modern Day Snow White?

Sydney White and the seven dwarfs...yeah apparently that is what this movie was suppose to be about. I suppose it was ok for an afternoon of nothing to do since the kids were sleeping, but it wouldn't be a choice for a great movie to watch. It was ok, but I don't remember college having so much drama like high school does. Of course I never tried to be in a sorority so maybe they are all cliqish and self absorbed. Maybe we all are dorks in someway...

The Bucket List

You know the movie that you sit through and think this is kind of long, but then it gets over and you think about it and go wow that was a good movie. I really feel like that was what "The Bucket List" was for me.

It had a pretty slow start to get you involved and loving the characters. It won't ruin anything if I tell you that they both have cancer and come from very different lives. One is a rich man who owns the hospital who is very strict in his policy that there are two beds to a room, he also a very lonely man. Who cares about privacy. Then the other is a poor family man who is loved and loves others. They become the best of friends and once they learn that their illness is now deadly they make a list of everything they want to do before they kick the bucket.

So what would be on your list? I personally don't have a terminal illness, so I am sure that my list would be way different than it would be now. It makes you think... I think I would do what I do now. Raise my children and play with them every day.

Summary: Good movie to make you think about, slow to start though.

Alvin and The Chipmunks

Watch this movie and you will have Alvin's singing voice in your head for weeks. "I told the witch doctor..."

This was one movie that it was cute the first time, very good for children, but I won't choose to watch it again unless my 2 year old is sitting there with me and wants to watch it. It was pretty cute, but if I see talking animals I don't think that I would make a rock band out of them, I would probably check myself into the insane asylum. I do feel that Jason Lee character is a bit too mellow, which is how I feel in all his stuff I have seen except for My Name Is Earl. But that is probably how they felt that Dave would really be like in real life, so really he is perfect in their eyes.

I do like how the chipmunks are more of Dave's children and sees a need to treat them like children instead of forcing them to make him millions.

So I am torn on this movie. I have to say...Great for children and adults to watch together, but too childish for a grown-up to watch alone.

StarDust

I have to admit I didn't really give this movie high hopes before I watched it because most of the magical stories told through the movies don't turn out the way one would hope, with the exception of a few good ones out there.
This story was a twist on Princess Bride, with more of a violent take. It was a romantic tale of course, but the gory twists must have been more for the guy side of the story. I think it had everything for everyone. All and all I would say it was a pretty good movie except for some bloody parts that I admit I cringed at. There is a lot of death, witches, and magic in this tale so if you are against that then stay away, but if you want something different to watch without the predictibility of the movie then I would recommend StarDust.
